What are the Top reasons of NDR for your Ecommerce Delivery?

NDR or Non-Delivery Report is a notification or alert shared by courier companies specifying the orders which could not be delivered by them in a certain timeframe. When a delivery agent is unable to successfully deliver the order, which might happen for a variety of reasons, the order is marked as an NDR.

The most common reasons for NDR are mentioned below.

  • Incorrect or incomplete address of the buyer

Buyers may incorrectly put their address while placing the order or miss out on landmarks that make it difficult for the delivery agent to find the delivery address. Because of an incorrect or incomplete address, the shipment may not get delivered, which results in NDR.

  • Incorrect Phone number of the buyer

Many delivery agents call the buyers before delivery to check their availability. If the number is incorrect, the delivery agent won’t be able to contact the buyer and the shipment gets undelivered and becomes part of NDR.

  • Buyer rejected delivery

Sometimes the buyer changes their minds about the order and does not want it, especially when the order is delayed or if the packaging is damaged

  • Buyer not available

There are occasions when the buyer is not contactable and as such, the shipment is not able to get delivered

  • NDR Fake Delivery Attempt by Agent

These are cases in which the delivery agent marks a delivery attempt in the system without actually making it.

  • Buyer rescheduled delivery

Some buyers, upon receiving the call from the delivery agent, may notify the agent that they require the order to be delivered at a later date. The shipment in such a case goes into NDR as the buyer is currently not available to receive the order/parcel.

  • Buyer wants Open delivery

Some buyers want that Delivery boy to open the parcel in front of them and show them the product before they make cash on delivery payment. Most Logistics companies don’t allow this and such orders also go to NDR so that you can talk to the buyer and sort it out.
